| Harlington Upper School | Harlington | Upper school and sixth form | 109673 | None | Major | Most systems run Windows XP either natively or through VMWare or Wyse, with Microsoft Office (older systems use 2003, while 2007 is being introduced on newer ones); there is a single suite of iMacs in the music department and some staff laptops are MacBooks (dual-boot with Mac OS X and Windows XP), the head teacher may have a MacBook Air (also dual-booting with Windows XP). Microsoft Internet Security & Acceleration Server 2003 is used to proxy web traffic, and a Microsoft Office Sharepoint Server 2003 instance is accessible (although disused). McAfee anti-virus and Securus is installed on all Windows systems used by students. Certain computers have Adobe Creative Suite, Adobe Photoshop, Google SketchUp, and 2D Design installed. All unencrypted internet access is filtered by a local proxy and the county school Internet service provider (E2BN) both by text-analysis and specific site blocking on a blacklist basis; unrestricted encrypted access is available (however students desktops are routinely monitored). | 2009-06-29 | ||
| Samuel Whitbread Upper School & Community College | Shefford | Upper school and sixth form | 109670 | Little | Major | All student-acessible systems run Windows XP natively. Microsoft Office 2003 and 2007 are in use, with the latter being used on newer systems. Nearly all staff have laptop computers running XP. Securus is the content filtering system in place, with the E2BN content filtering also coming into place through online content. It is suspected that Microsoft Windows Server 2003/2008 is in use on multiple servers, although this cannot currently be verified. Computers contained within DT/Research areas also contain 2D Design. Staff Email is handled by Microsoft Exchange Server, whereas student email is handled via Google Apps (Edu.). As of December 2009, Apple Macintoshes were unsupported for use with the Securus system. AB Tutor Control is in use in IT classrooms to control desktops. Anti-Virus/-Malware etc. is handled by McAfee. Most computer systems are provided by Viglen. Graphics is currently handled by Inkscape, however this seems to be more due to price than FLOSS. | 2010-01-15 |

| Tomlinscote School and Sixth Form College | Surrey | Secondary school and sixth form | 125261 | None | Major | Nearly all the computers run Windows XP with Microsoft Office 2003 on the older ones and 2007 on the newer ones. There is 1 suite of iMacs in the technology block for those who do the Creative and Media diplomas and art/graphics related subjects. There are around 5 computer suites running Windows XP, maybe more, and every normal classroom has a computer for use by the member of staff teaching in that room. Fireworks, Adobe Dreamweaver and Adobe Flash software is installed on all the computers although the older computers run older versions. Internet access is filtered strictly and some of the sites that come up on a simple Google Images search of 'boy crying' are blacklisted. Staff can monitor what you do online and stop your internet access at any time. You get print credits also and are not allowed to print documents of more than 5 pages or PDF files. | 2009-10-19 |
